Weekly ‘Jazz Jam Sessions’ for UW Students and Community Underway

The University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Music invites the public to weekly “Jazz Jam Sessions” at the Pokes Pub and Game Room in the Wyoming Union.

The free events are open to anyone interested in jazz at 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. The first took place Friday, Aug. 23.

Organized by the UW Jazz Studies Program, the weekly sessions feature live performances by the UW Jazz Studies student house band. These sessions give the student musicians valuable experience performing in front of a live audience, helping them improve their skills and gain confidence.

The sessions also aim to connect jazz fans within the UW community and introduce the genre to those who may not be familiar with it. According to the organizers, these weekly gatherings will become a regular highlight for both jazz enthusiasts and newcomers.

The Department of Music will continue to host “Jazz Jam Sessions” every Friday throughout the academic year, offering the UW community ongoing opportunities to enjoy live jazz music and connect with others. Each session promises an afternoon filled with music and socializing.
