Pulte Gateway to Hospitality Student Innovation Challenge Opens to Wyoming College Students

The University of Wyoming invites all UW and Wyoming community college students to participate in the Pulte Gateway to Hospitality Student Innovation Challenge, an opportunity to showcase creativity and problem-solving skills in a competitive environment.

This fall, undergraduate students are encouraged to join the challenge and work in teams to tackle real-world, scenario-based problems or opportunities. Participants will compete for a share of $20,000 in cash prizes, making this an invaluable experience for those looking to build their resumes and gain practical experience. No previous hospitality experience is required; students from all majors are encouraged to join.

Organizers point to several compelling reasons to participate in the Pulte Gateway to Hospitality Student Innovation Challenge. Beyond the $20,000 in cash prizes, participants will earn two upper-division college credits by enrolling in a hybrid class during the spring semester. Students also will receive $500 toward tuition. Beyond the financial benefits, this challenge offers the chance to build students’ resumes and gain hands-on experience. However, space is limited to 20 students.

“We are excited to offer this inaugural hospitality innovation challenge to students,” says Sara Ghezzi, assistant professor of practice in UW’s Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources and affiliated faculty of the Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality (WORTH) Initiative. “We are grateful to the Pulte Family Foundation for making this challenge possible.”

The Pulte Gateway to Hospitality Student Innovation Challenge is conducted by WORTH and funded by a generous gift from the Pulte Family Foundation. For more information, interested students should attend an information session Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 5-6 p.m. in Classroom 205 of UW’s Beta House, 1731 Fraternity Row, or join by Zoom at https://uwyo.zoom.us/j/5445792265.
