The University of Wyoming Department of Music choirs will host Western Bass, the second annual tenor-bass choral event, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.
The culminating free public concert will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in the performing arts concert hall.
The concert will feature the UW Singing Statesmen and Happy Jacks, as well as the Laramie High School Andante Bass Choir and Laramie Middle School Bass Choir.
The Happy Jacks will perform “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by Weiss, Peretti and Creatore; “Make Them Hear You” by Stephen Flaherty; and “Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)” by Billy Joel.
The Laramie Middle School Bass Choir, conducted by Kathryn Harding and Kandice Gardner, piano, will perform “Bella Ciao,” a traditional Italian folk song and “My Girl.”
The Laramie High School Andante Bass Choir, conducted by Beth Kean, and Loree Cox, piano, also will perform.
The Singing Statesmen, conducted by Brian Murray, Michael Lechner and Emily Peterson, graduate conductors, and Alisson Garcia, piano, will perform “We Are the Music Makers” and “How Can I Keep From Singing” by Reginal Wright; “Trinklied” by Franz Schubert; and “In Taberna Quando Sumus” from “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff.
The concert will close with Murray conducting the combined choirs.
