UW School of Computing Seeks Feedback on Two New Degrees

Applied computing and data science talent is in high demand in today’s job market, and the University of Wyoming School of Computing is building degree programs that will prepare UW students for these fast-paced roles of the future.

The School of Computing is seeking feedback on the program design to ensure programs meet both student and employer expectations.

Two informational sessions to discuss the development of the new B.S. in applied computing program and a B.S. in data science program are planned later this month. Sessions will provide an overview of the goals, structure and key components of the program, as well as an opportunity to ask questions and share initial thoughts.

The applied computing program session is from 3-3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in the Agriculture Auditorium or through Zoom at https://uwyo.zoom.us/my/schoolofcomputing.

The session for the data science program is from 3:30-4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, also in the Agriculture Auditorium or through Zoom at https://uwyo.zoom.us/my/schoolofcomputing

“These sessions are being held because the degrees are designed to add value to students with broad disciplinary interest, so getting broad faculty input is desired,” says Judy Yates, UW School of Computing administrative associate. “In addition, we will schedule follow-up feedback sessions in the coming weeks to gather more detailed input and insights from all stakeholders. Participation in both sessions is valued, and we look forward to faculty members’ contributions.”
