In anticipation of the winter season, the University of Wyoming will host two days of museum programming celebrating all things cold during the third annual “’Tis the Season to be Freezin’” event.
The free UW student event is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, with a Finals Week Winter Wind Down. UW students are welcome to visit the museum classroom for some comfort food and relaxing art-making activities designed to help take some of the stress out of final exams. Students can enjoy a fun felting activity and a holiday-themed movie.
The event is reserved for UW students only and is free of charge.
The UW Art Museum will host a free public daytime Community Winter Celebration from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Community members can make take-home winter lanterns out of paper and metal. Participants can help fill the museum’s lobby with light from their lanterns.
The Wyoming Film Gallery will be transformed into a winter-themed shadow puppet theater, and attendees can create original puppets. Talented artists from Relative Theatrics also will host winter-themed storytelling for children.
Warm, wintry drinks and treats will be provided.
For more information, email the museum’s Will Bowling, public programs coordinator, at wbowling@uwyo.edu or Fred Hirschman, senior office associate, at fred.hirschman@uwyo.edu.
