UW Staff Senate to Host Holiday Market Dec. 13

More than 65 vendors will sell a wide assortment of products at the University of Wyoming Holiday Market Friday, Dec. 13.

Staff Senate sponsors the market, which is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in the UW Conference Center, located at 2221 E. Grand Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

UW President Ed Seidel has granted 1.5 hours of release time for UW employees to attend the market. The scheduling of release time should be a collaborative discussion between employee and supervisor to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the unit.

Local vendors will offer a variety of items for sale, including artisanal gifts and goodies -- perfect for holiday gifting, market organizers say.

Staff Senate will sell tickets for three separate prizes: a meat raffle donated by the UW Meat Lab; a holiday cash 50/50 raffle; and a UW wool blanket from the Wyoming Wool Initiative. The proceeds will support staff scholarships, the Employee of the Quarter program and other staff activities. Tickets are $1 apiece or six for $5 and can be purchased at the holiday market or online here. The website will be open through 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Winners will be drawn Monday, Dec. 16, and will be contacted by either phone or email.

A special bus shuttle has been set up for the Holiday Market.

“Transportation Services was gracious enough to allocate a bus specifically for the event to get you from campus to the UW Conference Center and back,” says Frankie Vogt, UW staff recognition chair. He also thanked UW’s Catering and Events for helping with Staff Senate’s annual holiday event.

Beginning at 9:40 a.m., a continuous bus loop will be available until 5:30 p.m. The loop will start at the Knight Hall pickup/drop-off location; the bus will proceed to the Classroom Building pickup/drop-off location; and then drop off passengers at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center, which is across the street from the UW Conference Center. When passengers are ready to head back to campus, they can get back on the bus at the Gateway Center.
