SLCE Volunteer Fair to Connect UW Community with Local Volunteer Opportunities Feb. 10-11

The University of Wyoming will host the SLCE Volunteer Fair from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 10-11, in the Wyoming Union breezeway.

The event offers UW students, faculty and staff a unique opportunity to connect with more than 20 local nonprofit organizations and explore volunteer opportunities.

The fair, organized by the SLCE (Service, Leadership and Community Engagement) office, aims to strengthen partnerships between the UW community and local organizations, fostering a spirit of volunteerism and civic responsibility.

Participating organizations include the Laramie Soup Kitchen, Family Promise of Albany County, the City of Laramie Volunteer Program, Feeding Laramie Valley, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Red Cross of Wyoming and the Downtown Clinic. Volunteers play a pivotal role in the Laramie community, and the event encourages new connections between campus members and local nonprofits to support the region’s needs.

“This event provides an incredible opportunity for the UW community to learn more about local organizations, apply their knowledge and skills, and make a lasting impact on the Laramie area,” says Shelby Kennedy, SLCE project coordinator.

Students who speak to at least five nonprofit representatives at the fair will receive a free lunch voucher for Chick-fil-A, Panda Express or Rendezvous Café, all located on campus.

The fair is open to all members of the UW community, and attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives of participating organizations, ask questions and learn more about how they can get involved, Kennedy says.

“Whether you're looking to support a cause or develop leadership skills, the SLCE Volunteer Fair is an ideal place to start,” she adds.
