Breanna Krueger, an associate professor in the Division of Communication Disorders within the University of Wyoming’s College of Health Sciences, has been selected as the speech editor for the Journal of Speech, Language and Hearing Research (JSLHR), a flagship publication of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

JSLHR, a highly regarded monthly journal in the field of communication disorders, has been in continuous publication since 1936 and is widely read by over 234,000 speech-language pathologists, audiologists and professionals in related disciplines.

This journal serves as an international platform for both basic and clinical research on communication processes and disorders, making it a critical resource for researchers and clinicians alike.

“I am excited for the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our field,” Krueger says. “The peer-review process is critically important to ensure that quality research is making its way to the public, and I am honored to be trusted with that responsibility.”

Krueger was chosen for this role due to her expertise in pediatric speech sound disorders, her record of impactful publications in JSLHR and her experience as an editorial board member for other journals published by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

As speech editor for JSLHR, Krueger will oversee the peer-review process, which includes evaluating submissions on topics related to speech production and speech disorders, selecting and inviting expert reviewers, and making acceptance decisions informed by reviewers’ recommendations and feedback. Her three-year term as speech editor began Jan. 15.

Mark Guiberson, professor and director of the Division of Communication Disorders, notes that Krueger’s appointment also shines a light of recognition on the division from a national perspective.

“Professor Breanna Krueger’s appointment as speech editor for the Journal of Speech, Language and Hearing Research is a major honor and a testament to her exceptional reputation as a leading researcher in pediatric speech sound disorders,” Guiberson says. “Being selected for this role with one of the top journals in our field underscores Krueger’s national reputation and elevates the national profile of the University of Wyoming’s Division of Communication Disorders.”
