Last year, the federal government spent over $423 million in Wyoming. About $61 million, or 14 percent, was awarded to Wyoming firms. Small-business owners will have the opportunity to sell their products and services to local, state or federal government Wednesday, Jan. 15.
Drew James will head a Wyoming APEX Accelerator workshop titled “In-Person Matchmaking for Government Contracting” from 1-4 p.m. at the Teton County Library, located at 125 Virginian Lane in Jackson. The workshop is co-hosted by the Wyoming Small Business Administration (SBA). To register, go here. Registration is free.
Wyoming APEX Accelerator, part of the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network housed at the University of Wyoming, is the state’s expert in government contracting assistance.
The workshop will include an introduction to free resources to help small businesses navigate the federal procurement process; individual meetings with federal agencies to discuss services and supplies they buy and how they purchase them; how to market products or services one-on-one to the participating federal agencies and UW; and a matchmaking event to allow small businesses to obtain their share of millions of dollars spent by the federal government each year in Wyoming.
Agencies that will be represented are the Army Corps of Engineers, Idaho National Laboratory, the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service.
James is a veterans business development specialist for the Wyoming District Office of the U.S. SBA.
