Center for Global Studies Hosts UW-Cardiff Research Showcase Feb. 27

The University of Wyoming community can learn about the achievements and progress of the UW-Cardiff University strategic partnership during a free public presentation Thursday, Feb. 27.

The UW-Cardiff Research Showcase will be noon-4 p.m. in Coe Library Room 506 and will feature select faculty and student work from the ongoing partnership, including collaborations in the sciences, humanities and health sciences.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how the collaborations are enhancing research at UW and in Wyoming, boosting areas such as rural health, education, tourism and marketing strategies.

UW and Cardiff initiated the partnership in 2023 to support collaborative research projects, education and interdisciplinary work. Developed at UW by the Office of the President and the Global Engagement Office, the partnership creates meaningful opportunities for faculty and student exchange.

Some 22 collaborative projects have been supported by UW and Cardiff University through the partnership. Notable highlights range from medical students visiting rural hospitals in Wales and across the state, to faculty conducting ecological research at field stations such as the Danau Girang Field Centre in Borneo and the UW-National Park Service station in Grand Teton National Park.

The Global Engagement Office invites UW and Cardiff University faculty members to submit proposals for the Strategic Partnership Collaborative Seed Fund to develop projects that have clear outcomes and pathways for sustaining the collaborations.
