Dome After Dark Event at UW Planetarium March 1

A one-of-a-kind underground electronic dance music event is planned from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at the University of Wyoming.

The “Dome After Dark” event at the Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium and UWIN (innovation network) SciDIY Makerspace fuses cutting-edge live visuals, deep progressive house music and hands-on creative experiences, inspired by the immersive spectacle of The Sphere in Las Vegas.

Doors open at 8:30 p.m., with a cost of $15 per person, which includes drinks, snacks and a makerspace project. To purchase tickets, go here. The event is open to anyone 18 years on up; and two adult beverage drink tickets are available to those age 21 and up.

DJs and music will be provided by:

-- Zach G. & wefunk247, of Fort Collins, Colo., are resident DJs at LYSSA Nightclub & Rage Rooms and founding members of NoCo Beats’ Underground Selections series, which champions underground electronic music across northern Colorado.

-- OsVinci, of Laramie, delivers a tropical deep house set, blending warm melodies and lush, atmospheric vibes.

The immersive live visuals will be provided by Jane daPain, OsVinci and Cypher X, with real-time projection-mapped visuals that will transform the planetarium dome and floating sphere into an electrifying, futuristic dreamscape synchronized to the beats.

About Dome After Dark

In 2019, UW Planetarium and Innovation Network secured an Associated Students of UW grant to build an experimental computer capable of rendering real-time, immersive visuals in the UW Planetarium dome, setting the stage for a new era of spatial audio-visual experiences at UW.

By 2023, Cowboy Sandbox -- an ongoing series focused on experimental immersive technology demos and avant-garde digital performances, often serving as a prelude to Dome After Dark -- was launched. That same year, the UWIN SciDIY Makerspace above the dome was opened, featuring a multiprojection corner cave with surround sound, designed for spatial audio/visual development that seamlessly integrates with the dome’s projection system.

Dome After Dark officially debuted in 2024, combining underground electronic music, cutting-edge projection mapping and hands-on creative exploration. A collaboration between the UW Planetarium and UWIN SciDIY Makerspace enables event participants to move, create and immerse themselves in a multisensory fusion of music, digital art and interactive technology.
