Gaming Community Day Feb. 22 in Wyoming Union

An action-packed Gaming Community Day will be hosted by the University of Wyoming Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation (CBDI) Saturday, Feb. 22, from noon-9:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Wyoming Union.

Sponsored by Parallel Studios, the free event will provide an array of activities for gamers of all types, says Joey Marchand, CBDI esports coordinator. Attendees will get an exclusive look at Parallel Studios’ latest offerings, including the digital card game, Parallel, and the artificial intelligence-supported MMO Colony.

“The day’s schedule features Dungeon & Dragons one-shot adventures, open tables for Magic: The Gathering and a variety of board games -- though attendees are welcome to bring their personal favorites,” Marchand says.

Marchand says guests can enjoy full access to Pete’s Game Room, which boasts pool tables, table tennis, foosball and personal computers for gaming. Computer availability is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

“For those who prefer to bring their own computers, organizers will provide power strips, LAN switches and even a cart to help transport your setup from your car,” Marchand says.

The Laramie Rangers, a local military simulation unit and strategy gaming club, also will host an Arma Reforger simulation, adding to the day’s diverse gaming experiences.

Pizza and soda will be provided free of charge, Marchand says, and he encourages attendees to fill out a registration form at https://forms.gle/qfN9Xm8LmjPUskxg6 to ensure there is enough food for everyone.
