For anyone contemplating starting a small business, the thought alone can be daunting. However, advice and assistance are available.
Jim Drever will discuss the basics of starting a business during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network workshop titled “Start Your Own Business” Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 2:30-4 p.m. at the Laramie Chamber Business Alliance Building, located at 2208 Grand Ave. in Laramie. To register, go here. Registration is free.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The workshop is designed to help potential new business owners explore the pros and cons of owning a business and evaluate the skills and knowledge necessary for success. Attendees can learn about investigating the potential of their ideas; identify their target markets; and will be provided free resources. Additionally, the workshop will cover strategies small-business owners can use to access the capital they need to start or grow their businesses.
Drever is the Wyoming SBDC Network regional director for Albany and Carbon counties. Previously, he was a marketing director and project manager at a software company, had a small consulting business and recently co-founded CyberWyoming with the Made Safe in Wyoming program.
