The University of Wyoming School of Computing will celebrate new advances in data science and visualization on campus with the grand opening of the Data-X Studio from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, in Room 4030 of the Science Initiative Building.
The campus community and the public are invited to attend.
The studio is equipped with four 98-inch 4k displays/computer combos; an 86-inch interactive touch table; cameras and audio; adjustable rollable desks and seating; and SAGE3 collaborative desktop software connecting it all together to create dynamic space for “hyper screensharing.”
Trent McDonald, founder of McDonald Data Sciences and a UW alumnus, will give a presentation titled “The Permutation Test: A Robust, Underappreciated Tool for Modern Data Analysis” from 4:10-5 p.m. in the Encana Auditorium on the second floor of the Science Initiative Building.
Permutation tests are powerful, robust and flexible statistical tests that detect distributional differences among two or more populations.
