UW’s Wyoming APEX Accelerator and Wyoming SBA to Host Government Contracting Matchmaking Workshop in Casper

Last year, the federal government spent more than $493 million in Wyoming. About $59 million, or 12 percent, was awarded to Wyoming firms. Small-business owners will have the opportunity to sell their products and services to local, state or federal government agencies Tuesday, March 11.

Steen Stovall will head a Wyoming APEX Accelerator workshop titled “Government Contracting Matchmaking and Construction Accounting” from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Natrona County Library, located at 307 E. Second St. in Casper. The presentation will take place in the Crawford Room. The workshop is co-hosted by the Wyoming Small Business Administration (SBA). To register, go here. Registration is free. Wyoming APEX Accelerator, part of the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network housed at the University of Wyoming, is the state’s expert in government contracting assistance.

The schedule is as follows:

-- 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.: “General Accounting Principles/Construction Accounting in Government Contracting,” presented by Damian Ederhoff, a certified public accountant and partner with Bauerle and Co. in Denver, Colo.

-- 12:45-1:15 p.m.: Tyler and Jeremy Ross, owners of JTR Excavation in Mills, will host a panel discussion and answer questions. Topics will include financial and accounting systems, pricing, profit, overhead, and private versus government bidding. Deb Farris, deputy district director for the Wyoming SBA, will serve as the moderator.

-- 1:15-1:45 p.m.: Jake Wiegmann, a professional engineer and program/project manager for the Military Programs Branch and Planning, Programs and Project Management Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will discuss Sentinel MILCON and small-business opportunities. 

-- 1:45-2 p.m.: Janean Forsyth, APEX Accelerator program manager, and Drew James, veterans business development specialist for the Wyoming District Office of the U.S. SBA.

-- 2-4 p.m.: This session will include individual agency introductions and matchmaking breakouts. Attendees can meet in one-on-one sessions with agencies.

Agencies that will be represented are the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management, Federal Highway Administration, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Department of Veterans Affairs and Wyoming National Guard.
