The University of Wyoming School of Gender, Culture and Social Justice will host an event titled “A Literature of our Own: An Evening Celebrating U.S. Women’s Literary History” Thursday, March 13, from 5-7 p.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library.
The evening will feature a panel with UW English faculty members Molly McCully Brown, Julia Obert and Arielle Zibrak; and Colorado State University professor and award-winning author Nina McConigley.
The conversation will celebrate the March publication of Zibrak’s edited collection of “12 Stories by American Women,” which was listed as a Most Anticipated Book of 2025 by The Millions, an online literary magazine and a subsidiary of Publisher’s Weekly.
Staff, faculty, students and members of the community are invited to learn about literary history from a new perspective, listen to readings and participate in the conversation.
By bringing two contemporary creative writers -- Brown and McConigley -- in conversation with two literary critics and historians -- Zibrak and Obert -- this panel of experts will offer a unique perspective on the past and present of women’s writing.
This event is sponsored by the UW School of Culture, Gender and Social Justice and the Department of English. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available.
