The University of Wyoming Department of Music will host the touring performance of Wyoming Baroque at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall.
The “Music of 1725: Tradition, Innovation and Cultural Crossroads” performance is free and open to the public, featuring works by Vivaldi, Telemann and Bach.
Based at Sheridan College, Wyoming Baroque promotes, performs and advocates for music and music education in the Cowboy State and beyond, with particular attention to historically informed performance practice.
The ensemble features artists specializing in historically informed performances of 17th and 18th century repertoire and contemporary compositions. Tour personnel include UW Department of Music Professor Beth Vanderborgh, cello; Mark Elliot Bergman, bass; Stacey Brady, Matvey Lapin and Carla Sciaky, violin; and Emily Bowman, viola.
Committed to education and arts advocacy, Wyoming Baroque also presents masterclasses at schools and community centers throughout the region.
