UW Mortar Board Members Honor Faculty, Staff Members

Members of the University of Wyoming’s Mortar Board senior honor society recently presented their “Top Profs” and “Tip of the Cap” awards to honor faculty and staff members, respectively.

Mortar Board is the premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. Mortar Board provides opportunities for continued leadership development; promotes service to colleges and universities; and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community. UW chapter members participate in numerous projects and activities throughout the year, both on campus and in the Laramie community.

Members of the Cap and Gown Chapter of Mortar Board selected professors who have positively influenced their lives at UW. These professors go beyond normal classroom expectations to help their students succeed.

“‘Top Prof’ is an event that our members value greatly, as it allows students to recognize the faculty who have had an impact on their lives,” says Christine Wade, an associate dean in the UW College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources and adviser to the UW chapter. “Faculty are always honored to be recognized as a ‘Top Prof’ because it is a student-driven selection process.”

Gillette -- Jaidyn Groombridge, Jacob Layer, Division of Kinesiology and Health.

Laramie -- Nicole Brown, Tiffany Hunt, School of Counseling, Leadership, Advocacy and Design; and Gianna Rose, Yan Zhang, Department of Geology and Geophysics.

Lusk -- Bryn Bruch, Derek Smith, Division of Kinesiology and Health.

Riverton -- Brett Jones, Koen Groot , Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Rock Springs -- Julianna Pizzato, Margaret Holland, Division of Social Work.

Tip of the Cap Awards were presented to five UW staff members.

“Tip of the Cap allows Mortar Board students to recognize staff members who have impacted their time here at UW,” Wade says. “We have so many amazing staff, and it’s great to be able to recognize their work and emphasize the important influence staff have on our students’ success.”
