Pepper Named Interim Dean of UW Grad School

Carolyn Pepper, an associate dean of the University of Wyoming’s College of Arts and Sciences and a professor of psychology, has been named interim dean of the School of Graduate Education.

She will begin the role July 1, following approval by UW’s Board of Trustees last week.

“Dr. Pepper brings extensive academic and leadership experience to this role,” Interim Provost Scott Turpen says. “Dr. Pepper has demonstrated a deep commitment to graduate education that will serve the School of Graduate Education well during this period of transition.”

During her 24-year career at UW, Pepper has served as head of the Department of Psychology; director of UW’s Psychology Clinic; director of the clinical psychology doctoral training program; and as a member of UW’s Graduate Council, including two years as the council’s chair.

Among her honors is the Distinguished Graduate Faculty Mentor Award in 2013.

Pepper holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree from the University of Stony Brook, State University of New York, and a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.

The Office of Academic Affairs plans to launch an internal search for a more permanent dean in the fall semester.
