Tiffany Bishop epitomizes the characteristics of a high achiever. She produces impeccable work, can navigate complex administrative processes with grace and patience, and is a problem solver, offering thoughtful and strategic guidance, colleagues say.

Moreover, she is widely regarded as a social anchor among her team. Colleagues often look to her for counsel as she continually raises the bar of work culture by promoting collegiality and collaboration.

For these and many other contributions to the success of the School of Energy Resources (SER), the University of Wyoming has announced Bishop as the recipient of the Employee of the Second Quarter award.

Sponsored by Staff Senate, the award recognizes UW staff members for their efforts toward excellence in the workplace. A reception for Bishop will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Peabody Collaboration Room in the Energy Innovation Center. The event is open to the UW community; refreshments will be served.

This recognition celebrates Bishop’s exceptional dedication, expertise and profound impact on the school’s success and the broader university community.

“I am overwhelmed and humbled by the kind words of my colleagues and nominators,” Bishop says. “In any job, you hope that you are making a positive impact -- even if it is something as simple as making someone smile -- so it is very sweet to hear how much I’m a valuable part of our research family. Truly, I would not be successful without my incredible colleagues and friends who are equally passionate about their work. I feel so fortunate to be a part of SER.”

Joining SER in 2022 as the inaugural project specialist, Bishop has paved the way for the successful execution of grant management, which has now expanded to include three additional team members.

In her role, she assists with the administrative aspects of major grants, working with directors of research Centers of Excellence and principal investigators. Her responsibilities include project management, tracking milestones and deadlines, and streamlining processes to ensure timely delivery of deliverables and new proposals.

“As the first project specialist at SER, Tiffany has revolutionized the interface between administration and researchers and faculty,” noted a colleague. “She is highly organized in making sure that new project proposals have all of the required components necessary for a successful submission and, once awarded, is keenly aware of all of the milestones and requirements associated with each project, ensuring they are completed and on track.”

While her work is deserving of recognition, her colleagues emphasize her strength as a genuinely kind person, noting that she radiates positivity, possesses a good sense of humor and has a desire to see others succeed.

“Beyond her technical skill, Tiffany exemplifies the values we uphold at the University of Wyoming -- integrity, accountability and service,” adds another colleague. “Her positive attitude, reliability and willingness to go above and beyond make her not only a respected colleague, but also a mentor to newer staff and a calming presence in high-pressure situations.”

Another colleague notes that beyond her direct work within the SER, Bishop has actively cultivated strong communication skills, enabling her to forge robust relationships and effectively collaborate with other university units, ultimately benefiting the entire institution.

“Bringing in research funding through successful competitive proposals isn’t only about bringing in funding; fundamentally, it is about supporting others,” the nominator says. “Tiffany has worked with individuals both inside and external to SER, helping to improve the research portfolio of UW holistically … one person at a time.”

An Employee of the Quarter nominee can be any UW staff employee, and each must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. Forms can be found here.
