For those interested in connecting with local artists and agriculture, University of Wyoming Extension has launched a series of self-guided Ag & Art tours.

The second 2025 Ag & Art tour will take place Saturday, Aug. 9, in Albany County. The third tour will occur in Laramie County Saturday, Aug. 23. Both events last from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Participants may visit three agricultural operations within each county at their own pace in any order. All three operations will host artistic and educational booths for attendees to explore.

“At their core, both agriculture and art are rooted in creativity and tradition. Agriculture is an expression of place, shaped by the land and generations of knowledge, while art helps bring those stories to life,” says Hailey Sorg, Wyoming’s Jay Kemmerer WORTH (Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality) Institute extension educator. “This is a way for us to showcase not only what we produce in our state, but also who we are.”

At each of the sites, attendees will experience hands-on demonstrations of the everyday operations of the farm or ranch. Extension educators will provide information about subjects from agriculture to nutrition, showing the range of services UW Extension offers.

Finally, local artists will create and sell work on-site. Many forms of art will be on display, from fiber arts to photography. To register for the event, go here. The cost is $10 per person for ages 11-64. Guests 65 or older and children 10 and under may attend for free. College students may attend for a discounted rate of $7. All participants, including those attending for free, are asked to pre-register for the event.

At their first host site, participants will receive a passport to fill out as they complete the tour through the county. Completed passports can be turned in at the last tour stop to be entered into a raffle.

At the Laramie County event, trolleys will travel between the three agricultural operations for those who do not want to drive between sites themselves. Attendees may board trolleys at the Cheyenne Creativity Center, located at 1620 Thomes Ave. Each trolley will visit one of the farms and ranches, and then return to the Cheyenne Creativity Center. No trolleys will be available during the Albany County tour.

The event organizers request that participants leave pets at home, as pets may not be safe at the working agricultural operations that are hosting the events.

Free food is available at each site from noon-1 p.m.

Sorg and fellow extension educators Brenna Litynski and Makayla Getz organized the Albany and Laramie county Ag & Art tours with support from Visit Laramie, Taste of the Wind, Visit Cheyenne, Arts Cheyenne and Laramie County Extension.
