Small-business owners, entrepreneurs and startups will have an opportunity to learn about the Defense Logistics Agency’s (DLA) Internet Bid Board System (DIBBS) during a webinar Friday, Aug. 15.

Various business experts will head the “Finding Opportunities – Learn to Navigate DIBBS,” a webinar scheduled 10 a.m.-noon. To register, go here.

Wyoming APEX Accelerator, part of the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network housed at the University of Wyoming, is the state’s expert in government contracting assistance.

DIBBS is a web-based application that provides the capability to search for, view and submit secure quotes on requests for quotations for DLA items of supply. DIBBS also allows users to search and view request for proposals, invitations for bids, awards and other procurement information related to DLA.

“This event is hosted by Ohio APEX Accelerator, and Wyoming APEX is co-hosting. The Defense Logistics Agency is responsible for procuring items for the entire military, yet learning their bid system is complicated,” says Sarah Mikesell Growney, Wyoming APEX Accelerator procurement adviser. “Any business that supplies products, tools, ammunition and widgets that the military uses should consider attending this virtual training. Manufacturers are especially encouraged to attend.”

During the webinar, attendees will learn how to register for a DIBBS account and how to navigate the website to find opportunities on which to bid to expand their businesses.

Alonzo Burris II, a small business professional and contract specialist for the DLA Land and Maritime Office of Small Business Programs, is the webinar presenter. Sharon Hopkins, director of the Ohio APEX Accelerator at Ohio University, will serve as the webinar host. Facilitators will be Karen Wivell, Central Ohio associate director for the Ohio APEX Accelerator, and Vikki Hawthorne, a procurement specialist for the Ohio APEX Accelerator who is assigned to Franklin County, Ohio.
