Small-business owners and academics can learn about Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) translational biotech and life sciences research funding opportunities at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) during a webinar Tuesday, July 29.
Meena Rajagopal will lead the discussion during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network webinar titled “SBIR/STTR at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS)” from noon-1 p.m. To register, go here. Registration is free. NCATS is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The event is co-sponsored by the UW School of Pharmacy. Faculty, graduate students and postdocs are encouraged to attend.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by UW with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
During the webinar, small-business owners and academics will learn more about the NIH’s non-dilutive SBIR/STTR funding and resources to help small businesses advance and commercialize promising translational biotech and life sciences research technologies. Additionally, the webinar will cover NCATS’ key research focus areas; tips for submitting a successful application; upcoming funding opportunities; and other NCATS resources and programs.
Rajagopal is program director for the NCATS SBIR and STTR grant and contract programs. In this role, she oversees the NCATS SBIR/STTR program; manages a portfolio of SBIR-STTR grants; is involved in SBIR outreach activities; and serves as the NCATS primary point of contact for the Small Business Programs Management Committee. She is an experienced scientist in translational research and has worked in several labs, including academia and research institutes in the Washington, D.C., metro area.
