UW to Showcase Agricultural Research at Powell Field Day July 17

The University of Wyoming’s Powell Research and Extension Center will host its annual field day Thursday, July 17, at 747 Road 9.

The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 4 p.m. Registration will open at 3:30 p.m. No pre-registration is required.

The field day will cover topics such as row crops, drought studies and herbicide research. Participants will have a chance to hear about research projects during field tours and graduate student presentations. Dinner will be offered after the field tours.

“It is an opportunity for all members of the community to come and learn more about the agriculture in their community, what it takes to grow the crops, and what new research is being tested and implemented to assist producers in their efforts,” says Samual George, Powell R&E Center farm manager. “I believe it also is a valuable opportunity for producers, in particular, to come and see what is being done, as well as to connect with UW faculty and staff to discuss and facilitate future research that answers specific challenges growers are facing.”

Participants also will have an opportunity to speak with Andrea Garfinkel, the incoming Powell R&E Center director, who starts Friday, Aug. 1.

For more information, call the Powell R&E Center at (307) 754-2223 or email George at sgeorg14@uwyo.edu.
