The University of Wyoming’s Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium and the UW Innovation Network SciDIY Makerspace are teaming up for the entire school year for the 2025-26 Dome After Dark series, which kicks off Saturday, Aug. 23.

 

For the first event of the season, the UW Sphere in the basement of the Physical Sciences Building will transform into a state-of-the-art, 360-degree immersive venue, blending cosmic visuals and cutting-edge music in a night of art and sound. Visitors can enjoy an open bar with plenty of drinks for those 21 and older, including nonalcoholic drinks and snacks.

 

The event will run from 8:30 p.m-1 a.m. The cost is $20, with tickets available here.

 

This premiere lineup features:

 

-- DJ Brandon Brown, of Boulder, Colo. A veteran of the Colorado music scene, Brown is a composer, producer and recording engineer for Boulder’s Communikey Festival.

 

-- Josh Haimes, of Boulder, Colo. -- An all-vinyl DJ, known for his deep love of Chicago house and deep house.

Local Laramie artists scheduled to participate are OsVinci, the resident house music DJ; Space Raven, pre-rendered cosmic visuals using planetarium software inside the UW Sphere; Cypher X, live sound-reactive visuals in TouchDesigner; and Jane daPain, live VJ mixing with Resolume.

 

Before or during the show, activities upstairs in the SciDIY Makerspace are:

 

-- Play with the visual software in the immersive corner cave.

 

-- Try new DJ equipment and learn to mix tracks like the pros.

 

-- Make your own dog tag with an F1 laser engraver.

 

-- Create glow art in the lounge.

 

-- Explore the tools available for use at SciDIY Makerspace.

 

-- Enjoy drinks and snacks at the open bar.
