The University of Wyoming volleyball team will host a blood drive Friday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Ford Parking Lot at War Memorial Stadium.
The Cowgirls are conducting the drive in honor of the mother of team member Emma Winter, who is battling pancreatic cancer.
“During her treatment process, Mrs. Winter had to undergo surgery and was moved by the impact that blood donors have on ensuring she has the treatment she and so many others need to fight against cancer,” says Elly Frierson, UW’s director of volleyball operations. “Emma asked if we could try to put together a team donation to raise awareness and support for her mom’s battle, and we were able to coordinate an event right here on campus. Please come out and show your support for the Winter family this Friday and so many others in a similar fight.”
While walk-ins are welcome, those wishing to donate are encouraged to sign up at www.donors.vitalant.org, using blood drive code 100562596, or email Frierson at efrierso@uwyo.edu.
“Make sure to eat a healthy snack and hydrate before you donate,” Frierson says.
