Small-business owners, entrepreneurs and startups will have an opportunity to learn about what they should know about protecting intellectual property for the creative arts Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Darren Pogoda will lead a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network webinar titled “Intellectual Property for the Creative Arts” from noon-1 p.m. To register, go here. Registration is free.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
During the webinar, attendees will learn what can be considered for copyright protection, including advertising and promotional materials, instructional manuals, educational materials, software, websites and artistic elements of logos. Additionally, the webinar will cover considerations when applying for copyright protection, including what is not protected; what is required to secure protection and why registration matters; the registration process; ownership; infringement; fair use; and common myths.
Pogoda is an attorney and adviser for the Office of Policy and International Affairs of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he specializes in copyright law and policy. His international portfolio includes Japan, Korea, South Asia, Australia and the South Pacific region.
