Tracey McCormick

A project to help Wyoming public librarians respond to questions about legal issues has earned a University of Wyoming College of Law’s public services librarian the 2025 Excellence in Community Engagement Award from the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL).

Tracey McCormick leveraged her partnerships with Equal Justice Wyoming, the Wyoming State Law Library, the Wyoming State Library, Wyoming public libraries and UW’s George W. Hopper Law Library to support public librarians fielding legal research questions from their community users.

McCormick first assessed the legal needs of public librarians, then built and disseminated educational resources to librarian leaders, culminating in a joint presentation to librarians on “Statewide Legal Resources for the Public Patron.”

She has since built long-term connections through networking and interactions with Wyoming Library Association members.

AALL’s Excellence in Community Engagement Award honors outstanding achievement in public relations activities. The organization is the only national association dedicated to law librarians and other legal information professionals.
