The University of Wyoming Department of Music will present the Brass Chamber Recital
Monday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital
hall.
The recital, which is free and open to the public, will feature brass chamber music
selections from ancient to modern.
Opening the recital will be the Trumpet Ensemble performing “Maria de Buenos Aires”
by Astor Piazzolla, “Fanfare and Ricercare” by C. Debussy, and “And So It Goes” by
W.M. Joel.
Next, the UW Low Pokes, directed by Alan Harney, will perform “Intermezzo Sinfonico”
by Mascagni and Oktoberfest Songs “Der Jäger aus Kurpfalz,” “Das Jägers Wanderliedchen”
and “Meisterschützen.”
The Horn Ensemble, directed by Susie Fritts, will perform “O Magnum Mysterium” by
G. Gabrieli, “The Typewriter” by Leroy Anderson, and “You'd be So Nice To Come Home
To” by Cole Porter.
UW Trumpet Ensemble, directed by David Wharton, will follow with the traditional gospel
song “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” and “Quintet No. 1” by Brian Sadler.
The recital will close with a performance by the UW Faculty Brass Quintet, including David Wharton, Daniel Watt, Susie Fritts, Alan Harvey and Jefrey Arnold.
