Friederike Koerting, a hyperspectral geologist and entrepreneur, is the next speaker
in the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources’ (SER) Distinguished Speaker
Series Friday, Oct. 24.
Koerting will speak from noon-1 p.m. in the UW Energy Innovation Center’s Encana Auditorium.
The free lunch presentation is open to all students, members of the campus community
and the public.
A native of Germany, Koerting has a versatile background in geology, remote sensing,
spectral geology, scientific technology transfer and project management.
She is currently a geological hyperspectral application specialist at HySpex in Oslo,
Norway, where she helps companies in the mining and raw materials sector unlock value,
reduce risk and save time through the power of hyperspectral imaging. Through HySpex,
she has led over 70 feasibility studies for mining and raw materials clients worldwide.
Additionally, she is the co-founder and chief operating operator of rad.Data Spectral Analytics UG, a startup tackling complex mining challenges through spectral
analytics.
Her presentation will focus on the application of hyperspectral imaging across the
entire mining value chain.
“This is an exciting opportunity to connect with international expertise,” says SER
Director of Outreach Christine Reed. “Dr. Koerting’s work is directly applicable to
the hyperspectral imaging and remote sensing research we are building here in Wyoming.
Beyond her presentation, she will be spending time with our 3D Visualization team
to exchange technical knowledge, ensuring her visit leads directly to meaningful future
collaborations.”
