“More than just a screamfest, director James Whale’s masterpiece is a chilling exploration
of the tragic intersection of science, ambition and humanity,” says Kathy Kirkaldie,
UW’s fine arts coordinator. “Witness the film that shocked a generation and created
the most iconic monster in cinematic history, embodied by the inimitable Boris Karloff.”
For this special screening, members of the UW Symphony Orchestra will play a background
musical score composed in 2002 by Grammy-nominated artist Michael Shapiro. Shapiro's
haunting music adds striking emotional depth and suspense to the legendary tale of
Dr. Frankenstein and his wretched creation, creating a unique and immersive experience
for modern audiences.
Patrons are encouraged to get into the spirit of the season by coming in costume. Don't miss this one-night-only cinematic experience.
