The University of Wyoming Center for Professional Selling, housed within the College of Business, has announced the appointment of Tom Walsh as the center’s first board president.

Walsh, a distinguished UW alumnus and global business executive, brings more than 35 years of leadership experience across technology, finance and data enterprises to this newly established role.

As the inaugural board president, Walsh will work closely with the center’s leadership team to strengthen corporate partnerships, expand student opportunities and advance the center’s strategic initiatives. His appointment marks an important milestone in the continued growth and national recognition of UW’s Center for Professional Selling.

Walsh earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting with a concentration in finance from UW in 1987. He also completed executive education programs at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and IE Business School in Madrid, Spain.

Throughout his career, Walsh has led organizations across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia, excelling in fast-paced, innovation-driven industries. His extensive executive experience includes serving as CEO of Regulatory DataCorp Inc., a global financial crime screening and artificial intelligence firm, and CEO of Kaufman Hall Software, a health care data analytics company. He also held multiple global leadership roles at Thomson Reuters Tax and Accounting over a two-decade tenure.

Walsh currently serves as chairperson and independent board member for three global technology companies backed by private equity firms based in London; Charlotte, N.C.; and Boston, Mass.; and as an independent board member of two additional companies based in Colorado and North Carolina.

In addition to his professional success, Walsh has maintained strong and enduring ties to his alma mater. He serves on both the UW Foundation and UW College of Business advisory boards. Walsh also has taught advanced sales courses as an adjunct professor in the College of Business.

“Tom represents what it means to be a Cowboy: tough, gritty and grounded in purpose,” says Mike Burns, the Timothy M. Miles Director of the Center for Professional Selling. “We’re incredibly grateful for his willingness to step into this leadership role. His guidance will not only help ensure the continued success of our students but also strengthen our position as one of the top sales programs in the country. His leadership will help us continue to shape sales professionals who not only excel in business but also embody the resilience and work ethic that define Wyoming.”

“The UW Center for Professional Selling -- originally envisioned and made possible by the energy and generosity of Frank Mendicino -- has become the region’s premier sales program, equipping Wyoming students to excel and win in an increasingly competitive business environment,” Walsh says. “I am proud to be a part of this program, and I look forward to working with Dr. Mark Leach, Dr. Molly Burchett, Director Mike Burns, their team, Frank Mendicino and the rest of our outstanding board as we continue to grow this highly differentiated program and drive student success.”
