The University of Wyoming will host its 11th annual UW Giving Day from noon Thursday,
Oct. 23, to noon Friday, Oct. 24, celebrating 24 hours of generosity, pride and impact.
This year’s theme, “Seize the Day,” with the subtheme, “Light the Way,” highlights
the power of every donor to make a difference across campus.
With 267 campaigns benefiting colleges, programs and initiatives throughout UW, Giving
Day has grown into a beloved campus tradition that rallies students, alumni, faculty,
staff and friends around Poke Pride and the spirit of giving.
This year, more than $1.43 million in incentive funds -- and counting -- have been
committed to inspire donor participation through matches and challenges, including
$400,000 matching funds from the UW Foundation Board of Directors and $250,000 matching
funds from the UW Board of Trustees dedicated to student success.
Featured opportunities include a Kickoff Match, a Midnight Match, a “Seize the Day”
Student Match and the President’s Office Match for UW staff and faculty. Moreover,
the McMurry Foundation will provide $100,000 of matching dollars, combined with $50,000
of the UW Foundation Board’s matching funds, for a special “Light the Way” match Friday
at 10 a.m.
“Giving Day is all about celebrating what makes UW special -- our people, our programs
and our passion for progress,” says Kate Schlomer, director of annual giving at the
UW Foundation. “Every gift, no matter the size, helps light the way for the next generation
of Cowboys and Cowgirls.”
“We’re continually inspired by the way our community shows up for this 24-hour challenge,”
says Jill Higham, senior vice president for development at the UW Foundation. “Giving
Day reminds us that, together, we can make a lasting impact for UW students, faculty
and the state of Wyoming.”
