The Wyoming Supreme Court will hear oral arguments Thursday, Oct. 16, at the University of Wyoming College of Law.

The court will hear arguments first in Castaner v. State (S-25-0107), an appeal from a district court’s sentencing of a juvenile defendant who pleaded guilty to stalking and second-degree murder. Immediately following, the court will hear arguments in Voscopoulos v. Reese (S-25-0102), a case involving a dispute between owners of a Wyoming limited liability corporation that buys real estate to renovate and manage as rental properties in Florida.

“Whenever we hold oral arguments outside Cheyenne, we select cases that will engage attendees and highlight important areas of the law,” says Chief Justice Lynne Boomgaarden. “This session will offer UW students and the broader Laramie community an opportunity to observe how the court works through and decides real legal disputes.”

“We are delighted to have the Wyoming Supreme Court at the College of Law,” Dean Julie Hill says. “Every October, the court arranges to come to Laramie so that our students can watch oral arguments in person. We appreciate the court’s dedication to the next generation of Wyoming attorneys.”

Following the oral arguments, the justices will hold a question-and-answer session with UW law students.

The court will convene at 9 a.m. in Room 178 at the Brimmer Legal Education Center. Oral arguments are open to the public and UW students.

Under the rules of the Wyoming Supreme Court, audio and video recordings, as well as photography, are prohibited during proceedings.
