The University of Wyoming College of Law once again is ranked as one of the best values in legal education.

Every year, the National Jurist evaluates law schools based on cost and student outcomes. A combination of affordable tuition, consistent bar exam passage and strong post-graduation employment has helped UW’s College of Law earn a spot on the National Jurist best value list for the past seven years.

“It is important to us that the College of Law consistently delivers an outstanding value for our students,” Dean Julie Hill says. “We want to attract students from all walks of life. We also want to make sure that our graduates are not saddled with a debt burden that will keep them from pursuing the types of careers that are meaningful to them in the places that need their expertise.”

Part of the reason UW’s College of Law can deliver great value is the Wyoming Legislature’s strong support of the university and the College of Law. The college recently completed construction of the Alan K. Simpson Center for Clinic and Experiential Learning -- a 20,000-square-foot addition to the law building funded by the Legislature and generous donors.

The center provides a modern space for students to get hands-on legal experience representing clients of limited means. Last year, College of Law students provided free legal representation for clients in 18 of Wyoming’s 23 counties.

“Without legislative support, we would not be the strong law school we are today,” Hill says. “We try hard to be good stewards of the resources they provide.”
