The University of Wyoming will join institutions nationwide in celebrating International Education Week Monday-Friday, Nov. 17-21.

For 25 years, International Education Week has provided an invaluable platform for showcasing the people, places and power of global connection, while also fostering deeper understanding and cultural exchange among students, faculty and staff.

Historically a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, International Education Week is now run by NAFSA: Association of International Educators, The Forum on Education Abroad and the Association of International Education Administrators.

Throughout the week, UW will host a variety of events, including cultural showcases, discussions on global research and workshops on study abroad opportunities. These events will give students, faculty and staff a chance to learn about international programs, connect with peers across cultures, and celebrate the vibrant work that enriches the university community.

During International Education Week, the university encourages students to explore and get involved in global opportunities and events across campus.

“Global Engagement happens in every corner of UW, from classrooms and student celebrations to research,” says Isa Helfgott, vice provost for global engagement. “International Education Week gives us a great chance to showcase our students’ interests and achievements and celebrate the extraordinary connections our faculty bring to Laramie from all over the world. Every year during this time we learn something new about the breadth of UW’s global impact. We hope the interactions that occur over the course of the week’s events will light new sparks that bring even more global opportunities to everyone in our community.”

At UW, the celebration of International Education Week is open to all, with events designed to fit the campus community's interests and schedules.
