University of Wyoming President Ed Seidel and his partner, Professor Gabrielle Allen,
will host a Community Holiday Open House Monday, Dec. 8, at the Marian H. Rochelle
Gateway Center for all UW employees and students, their families and members of the
Laramie community.
The event will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Free parking
will be available in the lot north of the Gateway Center.
There will be a traditional Santa Claus at the fireplace, where people can take photos.
Pistol Pete and UW’s spirit squad also will be available for photos. Several UW music
ensembles will perform as well.
There also will be holiday cookie decorating, where guests can create their own cookies
and enjoy them with a cup of hot chocolate from the hot chocolate bar, as well as
many other holiday treats and activities such as face painting.
Throughout the event, UW’s Shetland pony mascot, Cowboy Joe, will be outside the Gateway
Center to greet visitors. And hay wagon rides will be provided by Pistol and Pete,
UW’s Haflinger horses, and their handlers from the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences
and Natural Resources.
Inside and outside, the Gateway Center will be replete with holiday decorations, including
the UW Christmas tree.
