The “Cowboys, Sing On!” choral festival, a two-day event celebrating vocal excellence
and music education, will take place Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28, at the
Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.
The festival, hosted by the University of Wyoming choirs in the Department of Music,
brings together hundreds of student singers in the seventh through 12th grades for
a weekend of intensive workshops and high-profile performances. Participants will
gain experience singing with UW choirs and performing on the concert hall stage; develop
music literacy and vocal techniques through professional instruction; and collaborate
and build friendships with peers from across the region.
The free, public Showcase Performance will take place Friday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m.
in the concert hall.
The concert will feature the UW Civic Chorus, the Laramie Children’s Chorus and the
UW Collegiate Chorale, with guest artists Erik Erlandson, baritone; Soyeon Kang, piano;
and Magdalena Wór, mezzo-soprano.
The free, public Festival Performance will take place Saturday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m.
in the concert hall.
This concert highlights the collaborative efforts of the festival participants alongside
vocal ensembles Bel Canto, the Happy Jacks, the Meadowlarks and the Singing Statesmen.
