In January, University of Wyoming Construction Management Program members Allison
Hannum and Tristy Thomas, student leaders of the Construction Management Club and
AGC of Wyoming Student Chapter, attended the Associated General Contractors (AGC)
of Wyoming State Conference in Jackson.
Hannum, of Brentwood, Calif., and Thomas, of Casper, serve as vice president and president of the Construction Management Club and AGC student chapter. The Construction Management Club was recently recognized as an official AGC of Wyoming Student Chapter, creating expanded opportunities for industry engagement, networking, professional development and student competitions. The organization supports numerous initiatives and committees focused on community service, strengthening industry relationships and enhancing program events.
Over the past two years, Hannum and Thomas have worked diligently to revitalize the chapter, increase student involvement and deepen connections between the Construction Management Program and industry partners. While attending the conference, the two student leaders participated in a panel advocating for UW and the Construction Management Program. Their presentation generated significant interest among AGC members and industry representatives who expressed strong support for the chapter’s continued growth, Thomas says.
With the leadership of Dan Benford, the executive director of the AGC, and the extraordinary generosity of AGC of Wyoming contractors and member companies, more than $30,000 was raised in support of the UW AGC Student Chapter and presented in Laramie in February. These funds will directly support student development, industry engagement opportunities and future program initiatives.
The AGC of Wyoming Student Chapter and Construction Management Program are incredibly grateful to the AGC of Wyoming for its generous support, Thomas says.
Hannum and Thomas recognize this milestone as the beginning of what’s to come for the student chapter and are enthusiastic about the expanded events and opportunities ahead, they say. Both students, who are expected to graduate in spring 2027, remain committed to continuing to build the chapter and ensuring it is left in strong hands to support its ongoing growth and legacy.
