The University of Wyoming Honors College invites students to “Discover Honors,” an interactive showcase offering UW students the chance to meet honors faculty and students while learning about some of the most unique courses offered at the university.

“Discover Honors” will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, in the Skylight Lounge of the Wyoming Union. Refreshments will be served. Those who are curious about how the Honors College might expand their educational experience are encouraged to attend.

“Everyone at UW is welcome to stop by briefly or stay to explore,” organizers say.

Visitors will encounter honors courses that challenge traditional boundaries by combining fields and perspectives historically studied separately, including Disney Discourse; Neuroscience and Law; Wyoming Walkabout; Art and Culture of Hip Hop; Cultural History of Cancer; Anger; and Water. Faculty members will be on hand to share how these and other courses invite students to engage with complex questions shaping the world today.

“The Honors College emphasizes curiosity rather than perfection,” organizers say. “For students who think outside of the box and want to make a difference in the world, the Honors College is a supportive place to discover interdisciplinary intersections.”

Honors students benefit from close mentorship and individualized circles of support. The program encourages students to think across disciplines, pursue ambitious projects and shape academic paths that reflects their interests and goals.

“The Honors College provides the relationships and structures that help students succeed at UW and beyond,” says Peter Parolin, dean of the Honors College. “It’s a home for all UW students who want to stretch themselves and make a difference.”
