Longtime University of Wyoming faculty member and administrator Carolyn Pepper has been named vice provost and dean of UW’s School of Graduate Education, after filling that role on an interim basis for almost a year.

The appointment is effective May 1, following approval by UW’s Board of Trustees today (Wednesday).

“Dr. Pepper brings a rare combination of deep institutional knowledge, scholarly excellence and a long-standing commitment to graduate education at the University of Wyoming. This appointment reflects both her deep experience and the trust she has built across campus,” says Interim Provost Anne Alexander. “She cares deeply about our students, our faculty and the quality of our graduate programs, and that shows in everything she does. I’m thrilled to have her in this role and excited for the continued momentum she will bring to graduate education at UW.”

During her 25-year career at UW, Pepper has served as associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; head of the Department of Psychology; director of UW’s Psychology Clinic; director of the clinical psychology doctoral training program; and as a member of UW’s Graduate Council, including two years as the council’s chair.

Pepper has supervised 19 Ph.D. students to completion, 18 M.A./M.S students to completion and is currently supervising five graduate students. She is the author/co-author of over 70 refereed publications and is a licensed psychologist in Wyoming.
