UW and Wyoming APEX Accelerator to Host Federal Solicitations Webinar May 26
Published May 19, 2026
Navigating federal solicitations can be a daunting hurdle for small businesses, but winning government contracts often starts with a proposal that is organized and fully compliant.
Small-business owners, entrepreneurs and startups will have an opportunity to learn how to read and respond to federal solicitations to start selling their goods or services to the federal government Tuesday, May 26.
Guest speaker Kirsten Sandlin will discuss the subject during a Wyoming APEX Accelerator webinar titled “Understanding the Elements of a Federal Solicitation: How to Create a Proposal That Checks All the Boxes” from 10:30 a.m.-noon. To register, go here. Registration is free. The webinar is co-hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
Wyoming APEX Accelerator, part of the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network housed at the University of Wyoming, is the state’s expert in government contracting assistance.
The webinar is designed to transform the solicitation process from an overwhelming task into a manageable, repeatable success. Attendees will walk away with the tools to build a ready-to-go framework that ensures every box is checked, allowing small businesses to focus on showcasing their unique value to the federal government.
Takeaways will include:
-- Learn what to look for on the landing page of a federal request for proposal (RFP) or a request for quote in SAM.gov.
-- Learn what standard forms are used for; what parts should stand out; and how to include them in responses.
-- Learn what federal acquisition regulation (FAR) clauses are; what they mean; and how to include them in responses if they are required. Small-business owners are responsible for knowing what they are agreeing to in a FAR clause.
-- A response format can take many different forms depending on each individual solicitation. Small-business owners will learn about common elements and basic documents to have ready to make response times more efficient.
