Small-business owners, entrepreneurs and startups will have the opportunity to learn about how to work with general contractors on construction bids and invoices Tuesday, May 19.

Kane Morris will lead a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network webinar, titled “Key Insights to Understanding Construction Bids and Invoices,” scheduled from 2-3 p.m. To register, go here. Registration cost is $15.

The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

For businesses working with a general contractor or acting as their own general contractors, they will soon be swimming in bids and invoices. The goal for business owners is to keep business projects moving smoothly; remain on or as close to budget as possible; and feel informed throughout the process. This workshop will provide several key tips to help businesses achieve these goals while they build.

During the webinar, attendees will learn how to:

-- Identify the key parts of a construction bid.

-- Understand what drives project costs.

-- Ask insightful questions before signing a contract.

-- Track project costs during construction to avoid surprises.
