UW Extension to Host Webinar Series on Managing Landscapes in Drought

Starting Thursday, June 11, University of Wyoming Extension will host a free three-part
webinar series focused on caring for gardens, trees and turf during drought.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, much of Wyoming is currently considered to
be in moderate to extreme drought conditions.
The new webinar series, featuring experts from UW Extension, Colorado State University
and Utah State University, is designed to help Wyoming residents navigate the challenges
of maintaining landscapes under hot, dry conditions with limited water resources.
“Whether you are tending a yard or public space with trees, lawn grass or perennials,
or cultivating a garden where you harvest fruits and vegetables, it can be challenging
to choose the best watering strategy to keep your plants healthy until the drought
subsides,” says Jennifer Thompson, a UW Extension horticulture specialist. “We created
this webinar series to help folks make these choices.”
Webinars, presented via Zoom, will take place 6-7 p.m. Thursdays, June 11, 18 and
25.
Dates, topics and speakers are as follows:
June 11 -- “Setting Up Drip Irrigation for Drought-Resistant Landscapes and Gardens,”
presented by Jeff Edwards, UW Extension state small acreage horticulture specialist.
June 18 -- “Managing Trees Through Drought,” presented by Alison O’Connor, professor
of horticulture for Colorado State University Extension.
June 25 -- “Managing Turf Through Drought,” presented by Kelly Kopp, Utah State University
Extension water conservation and turf grass specialist.
Although the webinars are free and open to the public, registration is required. Registration
