Scott Beaulier
The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has reappointed Scott Beaulier as the
H.A. “Dave” True Family Dean of the College of Business, extending his leadership
of the college for another four-year term.
Beaulier joined UW in July 2022 following six years as dean of the College of Business
at North Dakota State University. During his first four years at Wyoming, the College
of Business has grown its enrollment; expanded its graduate and online programs; strengthened
student success and career services; and deepened its connections with employers,
alumni and donors across Wyoming and beyond.
“I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to continue serving the University
of Wyoming and the College of Business,” Beaulier says. “I’m proud of what our faculty
and staff have accomplished over the past four years, and I’m even more excited about
where we can go from here. We have tremendous momentum, an outstanding team and an
opportunity to build one of the most distinctive public business schools in the country.”
“We’re delighted that Dean Beaulier has agreed to continue at the helm of our College
of Business, which has made significant strides under his leadership,” Interim Provost
Anne Alexander says. “He’s a dynamic leader with strong backing from within the college
and among its alumni and supporters, and we’re excited to see where he will guide
the college in the years to come.”
Among the college’s accomplishments during Beaulier’s first term:
-- The college earned a six-year reaccreditation from AACSB International in 2026,
continuing an accreditation it has held since 1956. Fewer than 6 percent of business
schools worldwide hold AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business)
accreditation.
-- College of Business enrollment has continued to grow despite demographic and enrollment
challenges facing higher education nationally, with particularly strong growth in
graduate and online programs.
-- The college expanded its commitment to student success through the Peter M. and
Paula Green Johnson Student Success Center, strengthening recruitment, advising, internship
opportunities, career preparation and employer engagement.
-- UW’s online bachelor’s business programs earned a No. 32 national ranking from
U.S. News & World Report in 2026, while the online MBA also earned national recognition.
-- Philanthropic support has expanded significantly, highlighted by Carol and Ramon
Tomé’s $20 million gift in 2026 to establish and support the Tomé Scholars to Fellows
Program in the College of Business and the Haub School of Environment and Natural
Resources.
-- The college has continued to strengthen its research enterprise and connections
to Wyoming businesses and communities through faculty scholarship, Centers of Excellence,
applied research and employer partnerships.
Beaulier says the college’s next chapter will focus on building on that momentum while
adapting to a rapidly changing business and higher education environment.
“Business education is changing quickly. Artificial intelligence is transforming the
workplace; employers are asking more of our graduates; and students are rightly focused
on the return they receive from their education,” Beaulier says. “Our job is to stay
ahead of those changes. We want every student who comes through the College of Business
to receive an outstanding education, gain meaningful, real-world experience and leave
UW prepared to create value from day one.”
Priorities for Beaulier’s next term include continued undergraduate and graduate enrollment
growth; expanding experiential learning and employer partnerships; integrating AI
and emerging technologies throughout the curriculum; recruiting and retaining outstanding
faculty; increasing research impact; and strengthening the college’s contribution
to Wyoming’s workforce and economy. A particular emphasis will be expanding opportunities
for students to connect classroom learning with real-world experience through internships,
consulting projects, entrepreneurship, leadership development and engagement with
business leaders.
“Wyoming gives us an opportunity to do something special,” Beaulier says. “We can
offer the academic quality and opportunities of a major public university while maintaining
the relationships and personal attention that students often lose at much larger institutions.
We want to take advantage of that -- and make the College of Business a place known
nationally for developing talented, ambitious graduates who are ready to lead.”
Beaulier is an economist whose scholarship focuses on economic development and political economy. Before joining UW, he served as the Ronald and Kaye Olson Dean of Business at North Dakota State University from 2016-22. He previously held academic and leadership positions at Arizona State University, Troy University and Mercer University. His reappointment is effective Sept. 1 and extends through Aug. 31, 2030.
