UW and Wyoming SBDC Network to Host Zoom Call About Project Spectrum Aug. 13

Small-business owners, entrepreneurs and startups will have an opportunity to participate in a Zoom call to learn more about Project Spectrum Thursday, Aug. 13.

A Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network webinar titled “Introduction to Project Spectrum: Further Your Cybersecurity to Win DoW Contracts” is scheduled from 11 a.m.-noon. To register, go here. The event is co-hosted by the Wyoming SBDC Network Cybersecurity for Small Business Program and CyberWyoming.

The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

This webinar is designed as a foundational entry point for businesses within the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and will focus on demystifying Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity requirements and introduce the free tools available to help small businesses meet them.

Key topics will include:

-- The regulatory landscape: An overview of the cybersecurity maturity model certification.

-- The threat environment.

-- Resource navigation: A walk-through of the Project Spectrum platform, including how to access its dashboard, training modules and expert support.

By the end of the presentation, participants should have actionable plans for their cybersecurity journeys. Specifically, they will have:

-- An understanding of how to use free readiness checks to assess your current compliance level against Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification and National Institute of Standards and Technology standards.

-- Knowledge of how to leverage Project Spectrum’s free tools to reduce the financial burden of meeting DoD security requirements.

-- Direct links to cybersecurity advisers and specialized training materials tailored for DIB contractors.

-- Practical steps for identifying vulnerabilities in your network and establishing an incident response plan.
