Designed to be a welcoming, accessible resource for all students, The Trailhead reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering student success and wellness, retention and timely graduation.

The Trailhead, opening this fall, will serve as the new home for Cowboy Coaching, a key initiative that provides personalized guidance from peer mentors to help students navigate their college journeys. Through one-on-one guidance, Cowboy Coaches assist students with goal setting, academic planning and connecting to campus resources -- empowering them to stay on track and thrive at UW.

In addition to Cowboy Coaching, The Trailhead is envisioned as a central hub for student support, where students can drop in to ask questions, receive guidance and find the resources they need -- with no appointment required.

“The Trailhead is about meeting students where they are,” says Abby Markley, associate vice president and dean of Student Success and Graduation. “Whether a student has a quick question or needs more in-depth support, this space provides a welcoming environment where they can connect with the right people and resources to help them succeed.”

To further enhance accessibility and convenience, The Trailhead will host rotating appearances from key campus partners, such as Student Financial Services and the Office of the Registrar. These partners periodically will be available on site to provide assistance with topics such as financial aid, billing, registration and changing majors -- bringing vital services directly to students.

By bringing together coaching, advising and essential campus services in one location, The Trailhead simplifies the student experience and reduces barriers to getting help.

“Sometimes, students don’t know where to go for support, or they may hesitate to ask,” Markley says. “The Trailhead removes that uncertainty by creating a clear starting point, an approachable place where students can walk in and be guided toward solutions. It’s a perfect place to drop by when the Panda Express line is too long.”

The opening of The Trailhead marks an important step in the Division of Student Affairs’ mission to improve student outcomes and create a more seamless, supportive campus experience.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to visit The Trailhead on the first floor of the Wyoming Union, adjacent to the University Store, and learn more about the services available. Everyone is prepared and excited to help students find their paths at UW.
