Famed Pollster, Author Frank Luntz to Speak at UW Sept. 30

University of Wyoming President Shane Reeves invites students, faculty, staff and the public to a fireside chat with Frank Luntz, a pollster, author and communications strategist, Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 5-6 p.m. at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center.

A reception in the lobby will follow. The event is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is requested here.

Luntz has been called “the Nostradamus of pollsters” by David Frost and “the person you turn to for the truth” by Bloomberg News. He is a frequent guest on CNN, CBS, the BBC and Bloomberg, where he has covered every major American election cycle since 2000, and he is the author of multiple books including the New York Times bestseller “Words that Work: It’s Not What You Say, It’s What People Hear.”

He currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he teaches a course he created called “You Are the Message.”

Luntz’s visit also marks the kickoff of the Scholar Leader in Residence Program, an initiative begun by Reeves. As part of the Scholar Leader in Residence Program, Luntz will share his political and communications expertise with faculty, staff and students during multiple engagements across campus.

“Frank Luntz has spent 35 years doing something we don’t do enough of anymore -- listening carefully to people who disagree with one another,” Reeves says. “That is already part of the culture here at UW. Our students, faculty and staff are a leading example of how we can engage with people whose perspectives differ from their own, hear them out and think for themselves. Bringing Dr. Luntz to campus builds on that work, and I hope the campus, the Laramie community and others will join us for this important conversation.”
