Wyoming Public Radio reported that UW has launched a new course to try and address a shortage of career and technical education teachers in the state. UW English Professor Kent Drummond was interviewed in The Gillette News Record for an article that focused on the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ American television debut on the Ed Sullivan Show. Drummond studies the cultural sustainability of the world’s greatest rock band.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle published UW’s release noting that a $250,000 gift to UW’s School of Energy Resources from energy infrastructure leader Williams will advance carbon capture, utilization and storage within the state and beyond.

Michael Griffith, UW’s director of orchestra activities and professor of music, recently was a guest conductor of the New York Repertory Orchestra. His concert, performed a half block from Times Square, included music by Bach, César Franck and Radamés Gnattali. The orchestra’s mission is to never repeat works. Featured were Gnattali’s “Sinfonia Popular,” a Brazilian work; the Bach fugue; and the Franck symphony completed Griffith’s program.

One hundred high school seniors from across Wyoming have been selected to receive the 2024 Trustees’ Scholars Award, UW’s top academic scholarship. The Wyoming Tribune Eagle and Sheridan Press published UW’s release, noting that the scholarship for Wyoming resident high school seniors provides a four-year scholarship for an undergraduate degree.
