UW in the News

State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported that the Wyoming Department of Education collaborated with UW’s Malcolm Wallop Civic Engagement Program to create the Civics Ed Center. The center will connect Wyoming public schools through a central online portal, where teachers can research civics education programs that have proven useful in other parts of the state. Wyoming Public Radio had a similar story.

Daniel Laughlin, a UW professor of botany, led a study that found trees can sustain life in temperatures higher or lower than where they are currently growing. The Wyoming Tribune Eagle published UW’s release noting that Laughlin is lead author of a paper that appeared in Science, a weekly peer-reviewed academic journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

The Greybull Standard published UW’s release on the recent UW Teton STEM Academy. The newspaper noted that local student Adeline Kunkel was among 24 Wyoming students who explored the interdisciplinary sciences relating to a mission to Mars during the science camp on UW’s campus.

For those interested in artificial insemination in sheep and goats, UW Extension will offer educational programming in Campbell and Fremont counties July 15, followed by breeding days in August. The Cheyenne Post published UW’s release.

UW Extension and Wyoming Wool Initiative will offer programs during the second annual Wyoming Sheep and Wool Festival this weekend at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds in Thermopolis. County 10 published UW’s release.

The Cheyenne Post published UW’s release announcing that UW Extension recently published three new recipe publications in the “Cooking It Up!” series.
